Have now had on tap 3x…BBC on initial keg; later at Burley Oak’s Controlled Chaos brew fest and now once again about 6-8 weeks after first time around.
This beer continues to impress me. Enjoyed first round, but later thought it much more complex and smoother at beer fest. Latest try continues that if not even more velvety.
DRk Brown/Black pour minus head or lacing. Nice ruby accents to light.
Nose is rich with malts and coffee.
Taste is very good. Rich with dark malt, restrained hops, a bit less noticeable coffee than nose…if anything it has a bit of somewhat sweet fruit/cherry that distracts from base and coffee. Given option I’d put it more 4.3-4.4.
Others may enjoy this and feel deserves 4.5.
All in all I think this is a top notch Imp Stout, and comparatively did a great job against many other Imp stouts I tried across the recent National festival.
Would be great on cask.
Well crafted! Kudos!
