Here at Pondeseta in Amarillo as it’s my first time here and I’m passing through the Lone Star State after being on the road all summer long. Nice vibe here and this beer’s great too as it’s a solid take on the style that’s made for and in the shade!
Drank this out of a plastic cup since it’s insanely busy here today but this had a nice, copper hue to it with a moderate head of bread topping it off. Most of the webbed lacing was near the top as the foam never fully settled around the edge of the liquid. Dark bread, chestnut, and roasted malts were in the nose as a hint of earthy hops, caramel, chocolate powder, and weed emerged once this fully warmed up. Full, subtly complex, and plenty dark, this was a great take on the style that warmed me up a bit, and was equally cloying and sticky without those attributes overpowering the nice range of flavors that was present.
The booze was every bit as present as the ABV% indicated although it was on par for a Maibock. Lots of suds were visible in the fine streams of bubbles in the liquid as this was as light as could be on the palate. Really enjoyed this although I wish my cup had been filled up all the way…

My first beer at this brewery and I was immediately impressed. Wonderfully smooth malt bomb, which was just what I was in the mood for today!
Poured from tap at the brewery into a English style pint glass. Beautiful golden brown color with an excellent beige head and great curtain lacing. Sweet roasted malt smell and taste. Earthy, with brown bread and caramel and a hint of chocolate at the end. Rich, meaty full feel. This beer made me happy today!
