Stopped here to try a German pilsner left with a few cases of beer. They just canned this one when I picked it up and it has sat in the fridge since. Using my Jester King tulip glass, I let the beer warm up to 52 degrees. The poor created a frothy and creamy medium tan head with okay retention. Loads of lacing covered the glass as it dissipated. The color charts around SRM 38 dark brown nearly black with no discernible hues. The appearance is about average, I wish the head last a bit longer.
Nosing the glass I detect milk chocolate, medium roasted coffee, sugar, bready, medium roasted malts, sugar, a touch of char, and sugar cookies. I smelled the beer several more times and only got a faint hint of citrus and floral.
Tasting the beer it taste like it smells, fake chocolate wafers, milk chocolate, sugar cookies, medium roasted malts, a hint of char, floral esters, medium roasted coffee, and faint hint of citrus.
The beer's mouthfeel is creamy and slightly chewy. The body is medium plus, the carbonation is low, and the finish is long and pleasant.
Surprisingly this a tasty milk stout. I am digging this beer. I am glad I stopped at this brewery and left with a lot of beer. I would suggest anyone to try their beers.
