The Ways Brewery and Restaurant "6th Anniversary Wit"
$4.75/10 oz. on tap at the brewery on 16 August 2025
Look: A hazy golden body is capped by a short head of white foam that unfortunately falls rather quickly and doesn't leave much in the way of lacing. This may have been due to a dirty bar glass.
Smell: Sweetish grainy malt with a note of citrus and some phenolic spiciness. Clear, bright, and welcoming.
Taste: Pleasantly sweetish, fruity, and gently spicy and phenolic. The yeast character is clear. It's mildly woody and subtly herbal as well. The malt is lightly wheaty and refreshing. A moderate bitterness of around 15 IBUs rounds it out and leads to a mainly dry finish.
Feel: Medium-light in body and gently effervescent with a fine-bubbled carbonation. Smooth, dry finish.
Overall: Quite a nice example of the Belgian witbier style with just the lack of head retention and lacing holding it back from being excellent.
