Brewed with a winning finish in mind. A refreshing low-alcohol ale to keep things light, with a tropical aroma and a clean citrus finish.

Bright clear gold, short head that goes away right away. A couple wee spots of lace. Weak aroma of hops and malt. Industrial stuff. Corny to taste, cheap malt, rough bite of carbonation. Unpleasant after burn. Not a good beer.

473 mL can from the LCBO; coded Mar 6 2020 and served barely chilled. I like the Oilers colour scheme on the label.
Pours crystal clear and effervescent; its body is a brilliant golden-yellow colour, and it's crowned with an inch of lumpy, foamy white head. Excellent retention - even after ten minutes, there's still a creamy, half-inch cap in place, with a thick, even coat of lacing also having been deposited. Looks fantastic, but the nose is considerably more subdued - there's hints of grainy barley malts and touches of floral, grassy hops and citrus zest, but that's about it.
Inoffensive and unremarkable, but at least it's got clean flavours and a refreshing feel about it. Grainy pale malts and a hint of doughy sweetness come through at first, with muted suggestions of pineapple, citrus zest and grassy hops towards the finish, followed by an off-dry aftertaste. Light in body, with zippy carbonation that prickles the palate continuously, resulting in a pleasantly crisp light ale that goes down the hatch with ease.
Final Grade: 3.54, an acceptable B grade. No. 99 Light Session Ale isn't a particularly memorable beer, but I polished off my glass quickly and without much fuss. In retrospect, this one might've been better off in the blonde ale category, because as far as pale ales go (session or otherwise), it's a little on the bland side. That being said, if you're looking for something to toss back all afternoon/evening while you chill in the backyard, campground, etc. then you could do far worse.

Pours clear with nice bubbles effervescing to the top. The smell and the taste have a bit of an industrial note to them. I can’t tell if it’s metallic or just weirdly bitter. It’s not bad just odd. Once you get over that, it’s not a bad light beer
