I had this beer served from a cask in a pint glass at the brewery. It's a lime leaf pale ale.
Appearance: medium golden hue with a light-to-moderate haze and a finger of fluffy ivory foam atop. Lots of good lace is left on the glass as I quaff, too, which is great.
Smell: plenty of malt and citrus; there’s a toastiness to the malt, and if it doesn’t necessarily scream “lime”, it’s definitely brightly citrusy.
Taste: the flavor doesn’t mesh as well as the aroma. There’s a good malty flavor here, but the lime seems out of place rather than contributing to a synergistic goodness.
Mouthfeel: medium body but with a super well integrated carbonation. Turns out the English know their cask ales!
Overall: flavor synergies aside, this is a highly drinkable pale ale. Worth a try if you can get it at the source!
