Bought from H Street's Craft Beer Cellar DC near Union Station.
As I drink Long Shadow and finish a pint of Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream, the world seems complete... for a fleeting moment. How lucky we are for these moments.
I'm not a super fan of American Stouts because they often hide behind the hops. But, Long Shadow does not hide; it blends and roasts its malts well.
Only 3 years old, Wheatland Farm Brewery is figuring out its (and beer's) terroir fast. They grow all ingredients (including capturing and cultivating their yeasts) and consider their business "Farming for Fermentation." And it shows. They serve food, also. Being a visitor from 1,000 miles away, I can't visit on this trip... but I look forward to having one of their farmhouse ales. Lots of OA Hugs for putting together many good-guy elements.

Pours a dark brown with tan head. Nose is cocoa, may be a menthol note of some sort - perhaps from the hops. It's not overly sweet, dark chocolate, dry, very drinkable, with a small herbal note. It's a solid chocolate stout and as I think about it, I'm not sure I'd want much more than this in a straight forward chocolate stout.
