Pours a transcendently bright golden with soapy white head with excellent retention. The aroma is quite prominent for a lager, I'm getting grape gummies, freshly baked bread, and expressed lime peel. I was really interested to see how this one would compare to Corn Crib, a heftier lager at 5.5%. The malt bill in Corn Crib is so expressive when combined with the hops, it provides tremendous complexity and a bewildering beautiful flavor profile. This feels much more hop driven. The spicy bitterness of the hops casts a heavy shadow over the rest of the beer. The malt does have some of that lemongrass/lime zest character that I really enjoyed in CC but it doesn't seem to have the girth to stand up to the hops. It is a very enjoyable beer but not Wheatland Spring's best.
