Made together with Wunderkammer Biermanufaktur.
We’d talked about making a lager on our farm since making a beer with Wunderkammer in Vermont a year ago. As mutual fans of triticale, it seemed the grain chose us for this project.
The more we explore grains we grow here on the farm, the more we enjoy getting to know what they’ve got to say. Our custom malted barley blend offers a balance of leavened dough and bread crust body before easing into the tempered sweet red berry impression we’ve come to love from our home-grown triticale. This beer finishes with delicate floral, herbal, and a hint of citrus aromatics from the whole cone hops.

A light but of haze on the golden body that is supporting a sticky white top. Nose is a mix of cereal grain, citrus zest, and a background of fresh cut grass. There’s a slightly stale vibe to it, though it’s not putting me off.
Given that, the taste is quite a bit brighter than expected. The citrus comes through with the straw-like notes from the grains. Light and refreshing and maybe even just a toe onto the sweet side to open, it gets a bit of herb and woody pine from the hops. Those are light but noticeable, as is the note of walnut (triticale effect?) and white pepper I get.
I’m enjoying this one, but I could also see it being a situational kind of beer - one that I quite like some days (today) and might rather skip on others.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
