DATE: July 27, 2025.... OCCASION: a second rating today, this one offering a reflection at our Gatlinburg vacation and a fine beer that evokes a few memorable bear experiences there! GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... pours a mahogany brown with purple tints in the few slivers of light... its head is a finger's worth of off-white bubbles that remains resilient throughout its drinking... toasted bread malts, sweet caramel and toffee, and subtle coffee bean make for a rich, arresting aroma... a nuttiness pervades as well, which makes for a hearty invitation... smooth, chewy, full, and rich--each sip owns a dessert-like quality, despite its relative agreeable 6% ABV... low carbonation mixes with a thick viscosity to keep this a slow burner.... the caramel and toasted bread malts are robust, with the coffee beans and nuttiness give this an added dimension... I wish I took more of this home--a fine brown ale to be enjoyed year round...

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a very dark brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of dark malts. Taste is dark malts, nutty, touch brown sugar. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.
