In lieu of the 2021 Olympic Games taking place this summer in Tokyo, Japan, we will be kicking off an exciting new series of beers that will honor some of our nation's greatest Olympic athletes!
The first beer in the series was brewed to commemorate gymnast Kerri Strug and her amazing performance in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.
Despite suffering a serious ankle injury on her previous vault, Kerri was determined to bring home the gold and shocked the world by sticking the landing of the final vault of the competition -- with just one leg -- to secure the US team victory.
Her face was grimacing with pain as she hobbled to the floor after the unbelievable landing and was then carried off by her coach through a packed, enthusiastic arena erupting with patriotic cheers and applause.
1996 was the first time in history that the US women's gymnastics team, known as the Magnificent Seven, won the overall gold medal for our country. Kerri was competing in her second Olympic games at the time and was just 18 years old!
This big Imperial NEIPA is dangerously drinkable with minimal bitterness, a soft, medium-bodied mouthfeel, and a juicy finish.
Just like an unrelenting and competitive gymnast, this small package will surprise and dazzle you with its strength, finesse, and resilience. To stick the landing, we dry-hopped this juicy brew with record setting levels of some of our favorite gold-medal worthy hops -- Vic Secret, Strata, and El Dorado -- for an over-abundance of tropical fruit, melon, citrus, and stone fruit aromas and flavors.
We get notes of ripe cantaloupe, juicy peach, creamy jackfruit, floral pomelo, sweet honeydew melon, pineapple chunks, lemon meringue, passionfruit, and nectarines.
