Picked this up during my run to Source a few weeks back, as I liked the description of this beer and always had a thing for West Coast beers. This was a true IPA that fit it's description well as it was full of tangy, sharp citrus and had plenty of body and dankness to it to be enjoyable as like other beers from these guys, this got better as it warmed up in my glass.
Loved the clarity of this beer as it poured a nice shade of gold that let in plenty of light. A nice cap of typical "beer foam" topped this off as it took its' time to settle and never fully went away. A good amount of lacing was left behind along the bottom 3/4 of my pint glass with a few hints of thin rings being somewhat discernible among the suds. Tons of piercing grapefruit, dank dewiness, and yeast filled the nose as the taste was full of Cascade, Chinook, Centennial, or whatever left coast hops were in this along with conifer, pine, deep forest, ferns, and anything outdoorsy that complemented the acrid nature of this beer.
Amazingly, the booze was as about as recessed as could be for an American IPA as what was detectable complemented the hops and flavors wonderfully. Wonderfully slick, nicely balanced, and with just enough carbonation that was evidenced by the bubbles that came up after every sip, this was a lovely take from these parts on a style that's not common in these parts. Dated on Bastille Day with "WEST FRIENDS" written below it, it's a brew like this that makes me love Source more by the day and will help put Jersey on the proverbial brew map at the same time. The styling Orange County-esque label was just the icing on the cake!
