Picked this up at Source a few months back, to have something to even out the beers here. Love the silos at the brewery and this lived up to that image as it was the quintessential brew from these guys - from start to finish…
Golden, hazy, and topped off with enough foam, this had a fair amount of lacing left behind as it was extensive, but not layered in the least. Tons of turbid blueberry, stone fruit, and subdued wheat in the nose as the taste was deeply tropical and full of Cryo hops. Fruit cocktail emerged once this fully warmed up with papaya lingering for quite the while in the aftertaste.
This had to be one of the most full-bodied beers from Source that I’ve reviewed on here as the lack of overt carbonation only added to the heavy-handed mouthfeel. A steady juiciness took the edge off as there was some stickiness, bread and traces of weed to round out the flavor profile. Dated 2/4 on the bottom of the can with “XLII&LVIMVP” written underneath it, I still need to get how this relates to the Super Bowl. Regardless, this was an enjoyable Imperial IPA that had more than enough going for it!
