This was another beer that I picked up this past weekend down at Source, as they've become one of my favorites here in the Garden State. IPA's are a dime a dozen but thankfully, this one stood out from the crowd as it was quite oily, floral, and uniquely aromatic as the dry-hopped nature of this beer really shone once it fully warmed up!
The pour to this was a hazy goldenrod that was subtly radiant and uniform in hue. A moderate head topped this off as the lacing left behind was quite sparse aside from a few hints of rings near the middle of my pint glass. Potpourri, dry floral notes, grapeskin, and tangy hops were in the muted nose as candied tangerine, barley, further grape, and earthy hops emerged in the taste as this had a nice, underlying burn to it that was reminiscent of the West Coast Pale Ales and IPA's that got me into beer many moons ago. The depth to this was quite extensive as this opened up beautifully as it warmed with a nice, balanced body and sticky aftertaste made a good example of what an IPA should be.
Sure, there was booze here and it was noticeable although it took a back seat to everything else that was going on. Dated 11/2 on the bottom of the can with "PHANTASTIC AROMA" written below it, the smell could have been a bit more potent but otherwise, there wasn't anything wrong with this beer. Source has another winner here as the taste and feel of this beer complemented the label nicely. Grab this to keep warm at night if you're over the Marzens and Octoberfests that are ubiquitous during this time of year!
