Had on tap. Indeed a proper english brown appearance with a plump beige head on the brown body. Classic earthy english dry yeast and good malt work with tones of tobacco, caramel, lighter leather in the nose. Taste adds trace cocoa. Feel is dry, malty yet has plenty of dry frothy yeast, warming with no astringency at all but a little thin for the style

16oz can from Tavour. dark brown pour with a one finger fluffy beige head. Rich, toasty malt aroma, nutty. Taste is more of the same, nutty, toasty with mild bitterness and sweet notes. Creamy, velvety feel. This is what a brown ale should taste like. Super tasty.

Clear, dark brown body; moderate head height, thick and creamy texture; excellent rings of foam encircle the glass. Nice malt aroma with delicate elements of nuts. Great classic brown ale taste; tasty, lightly toasted flavor with a strong hazelnut component; moderate bitterness. Medium body; semi-sweet with a slight astringency.
A fine, unpretentious brown ale with a nice malt presence and balanced hop bitterness.
Pouring temperature: 45 °F; canning info: CANNED ON 01/14/2022

Picked this up recently at Source, as I've come to enjoy nearly all of their offerings that they've recently released. It's not often that a brewery attempts this style but they did this well as it was a quintessential British Brown Ale that was full-bodied, packed with enough flavor, and extremely easy to drink. Of course, this didn't stay in my pint glass for long!
Naturally, this had a solid brown hue to it as the liquid had just a few bits of dark sediment that settled to the bottom. A massive, bubbly, and lovely khaki head topped it off as it almost made this appear like a milkshake since it went over the top of my glass but didn't overflow, since it was so thick. Lots of malt, bread, raisin, and especially nuts in the aroma as the taste closely followed suit. A bit dry, on the palate, this had hints of chocolate, toffee, and sarsaparilla to go with a ton of walnut and almond as this would have been perfect for the fall. It's description on Instagram mentioned cedar and it's easy to pick out some woodsiness underneath everything, as that melded well with the more pronounced flavors here.
The carbonation was nearly nonexistent and the same could be said for the booze as I could have easily cracked another one open after finishing this off. Dated 1/18 on the bottom of the can with "BLOODY GOOD!' written underneath it, this was easily worth all of the Union Jacks that were on the label. Indeed, this was a jolly good beer that once again, proved how well Source is at mastering different styles. Cheers to this beer!
