Haven't had all of Source's Ultra beers but this one was recently released and available at Joe Canal's in Woodbridge. The Trident easily reminded me of Idaho 7 because of it's tropical, Hawaiian Punch-like feel although this was just a bit more sweet and plenty juicy, as this had a persistent, lingering dankness in the back end.
Cloudy, golden, and topped off with just enough head, this was an Imperial IPA that straddled the line with a New England IPA. Not a lot of lacing to this as there were spotty hints of rings left behind as I worked my way through it. Lots of sugary, exotic fruit and an easygoing smoothness was complemented by a softly full mouthfeel and light carbonation as this was lovely for a late spring day such as recent ones we've had. Lots of melon, honeydew and exotic fruit endured for the duration with a acrid dankness staying around after the last sip.
Canned on 3/29 with "NEVER WETTER" written below that, this was juicy but with more dew and weed than I expected from a beer of this type. The warmth from the alcohol was on par with the flavors as this was just right by itself for a session. Would love to try the other variants in this series, as one hop was plenty here. Source brews fun stuff and this was another example of why that is!
