Picked this up recently at Jim Dandy's in Nutley as I was able to get a single can of this over there. I haven't had much with Comet in it but this was incredibly smooth, solidly juicy, and easy to enjoy it held up nicely since it's March canning!
Golden, hazy, and filled with fine sediment, this beer was topped off with enough head as it settled slowly and evenly. Most of the lacing left behind was concentrated at the center of my pint glass with a hint of a ring remaining near the bottom, in addition. Orange blossom, tangerine, key lime, and bright floral notes were in the subdued nose as the taste was much more boisterous. Loads of juicy citrus filled the mouthfeel as the oats and wheat gave this a ton more body than would be found in a typical beer of this style. A lively carbonation and undertone of fruit cocktail ensured that this would be complex enough on the palate while being easily enjoyable, and not in my glass for very long.
The alcohol was present as this had enough heft to it but I never tasted it throughout my session. A bit of warmth kicked in near the end but overall, this was a great example of how to showcase a single hop without being one-dimensional. Canned on 3/29 with "DORT JUICE" written underneath it, this had a lot going for it without being flashy or bitter. Lots to savor here as Source has another winner on it's hands, down to the complementary label. Their Ultra series is just another reason why I love these guys!

can to snifter.
LK: clear yellow, medium off white head. ok retention.Decent legs, (3.5)
A: muted citrus, grass hay (3.25)
T:berry, lemon candy,chemical, palm, citrus (3.5)
MF (3.5): light body, sharp/acidic finish.
OA: 3.25
Something a little off, but tasty enough. Some of Sources other "ultra-hop" brews are far superior (namely vic secret, waimea, simcoe); though I guess that is a personal taste criteria more than a quality. All of these beers are pretty well crafted and I enjoy them more or less based on the hop used. It's a great way to learn or confirm your hop preferences.
