This was another beer that I picked up at Source late last year, as it was a new release by them. Love their offerings and indeed, this style is one that they brew nicely as it's not too strong in any particular aspect. Even on a mild spring day, this was refreshing after a long weekend of work!
Of course, this poured a brownie brown with a gorgeous, soft and silky mocha head that formed after the foam cascaded down. It settled evenly and lasted remarkably long, as it never fully subsided during my session. The only lacing was left around the top of the liquid, as that slid down the side of my glass after every sip. Lots of brownie batter, marshmallow sweetness, and cacao nibs on the nose as the taste contained all of those and so much more! A bit of lactose, hints of cherry and plum, graham cracker, sticky sugar, and dark grains were in the palate as the sweetness and body were nicely in check with each other. True to form but not light in any way, a bit of bourbon came through in the back as the caramel and booze combined to give this beer the heft that it needed.
Dated 11/29 on the bottom of the can with "S'MORE S'MORES" written below that, this held up well over the last five months as it felt lively and was devoid of any sediment. Fans of s'mores that can't get near a campfire will love this as well as it's collaboration with Bolero Snort and the benefit for Toys for Tots. Once again, Source as a winner on it's hands that was completely enjoyable and worth another go-around when the holidays come back!
