This was another beer that I picked up at Source late last year, as it sounded quite interesting. Turns out that it was, with this being quite sweet and spicy, with a nice coffee undertone to it.
Not surprising that a Stout like this was dark and thin, given that this was a Sweet/Milk Stout. The head was tan and thick enough but it didn't last terribly long and faded to nothing. Ditto for the lacing as the thin nature of this brew was also present in the lack of suds left on the side of my glass. Only a few dots remained as this felt like something made at a cafe and not a brewery. Lots of pumpkin, cinnamon, and vanilla in the nose as the taste closely followed suit. Strong hints of coffee beans although the roasted factor was at a minimum here. Lots of pure pumpkin stuck around in the aftertaste with a light amount of sweetness and a soft earthiness that lingered long after I finished this off.
The alcohol was nicely hidden here and the carbonation was somewhat lively, as there was a bit of a coffee sweetener-like cloying undertone that kept this from being too light. Canned on 10/31 of last year with "PUMPKIN SEASON" written underneath that, this held up well as there wasn't any sediment to be seen. Once again. Source has a fun and unique offering that was worth obtaining, and worth savoring year-round. Would love to have this on tap!
