Picked this up down at Source earlier this year, as I haven't had a good Vienna Lager in ages. I'm probably a groupie for these guys at this point, given how many of their beers I've reviewed on here! Once again, this was worth obtaining as it measured up to their standards and was a textbook example of the style from start to finish.
A bright chestnut hue greeted me as I poured this out, with a truckload of tan, bubbly head topping this off. Loads of extensive lacing were left behind as the appearance of this served as an indication of how full it would be. Quite a bit of raisin in the nose with dark bread and hops underneath that as the taste nicely followed suit. Plenty malty, the caramel was just a bit lighter than I would have liked but by no means was that a deterrent. Toasty, full, and pleasantly cloying in the back, this went down easily without feeling weak, underdone, or watered down.
Of course, I had this in a Sam Adams glass as I figured it would be fitting for a beer similar to their flagship Boston Lager. Looks like "LAGERZEIT" was written on the bottom of the can but regardless of what was said, this measured up to what I was accustomed to from the Boston Beer Company. Once again, Source has a winner here as this was a true session beer that would be suitable year-round. So much to like here for those who appreciate a good Vienna Lager!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
