When's a Wibier not a witbier?
When it's this hybrid style beer from Source.
This looked quite unique from its description and indeed, that was the case with this as I can honestly say that I haven't had anything like this before. Fun, bright, and oh-so-easy to quaff, this was a great session beer that was perfectly fitting for the season!
Goldenrod, milky, and muted, the hue to this was interesting as it looked as like dandelions in a glass. A nice, solid head topped it off as it took quite a while to settle down. Not much lacing was left behind aside from a few thin and faint rings near the middle of my pint glass. Straw, wheat, dandelions, and honeysuckle were in the nose as the taste was just as floral, sunny, and varied. A bit of citrus zest and light lemon came in on the palate as the mouthfeel, carbonation, and body were all on-point. A bit of champagne and Radler could be felt here as this was a German-inspired beer through and trough, with the end result being that it flew right out of my glass...
Canned on 4/15 with "CRISP MEETS CLOUDY" written underneath it, this was indeed a hybrid of two similar, but somewhat different, styles. Love it when brewers take a gamble and in this case, did so coming out ahead in the end. For those who doubt, cold fusion is here and quite powerful!
