This was another recent release from Source that I picked up in Colts Neck, as it sounded like a lovely dessert offering. I haven't had Kahlua in years and don't go out for mixed drinks at a bar but this came across as a combination of both, with some fresh-brewed coffee thrown in for good measure. The end result was something silky, smooth, and easy to enjoy - which was surprising given how much booze was in it!
No surprise that this poured like coffee as it looked like something newly-roasted. The brown hue was clear around the edges and topped off with a ton of thick, bubbly head that was tan and offset the liquid nicely.A fair amount of spotty lacing stuck around as the foam never fully settled down. A ton of coffee, milk chocolate, and a hint of liqueur were in the nose as the taste had milk sugar and a bit of cream in it. A bit of birthday cake sweetness and alcohol entered the fray in the back as this was just a tad cloying and sticky in the aftertaste.
Yeah, this was 7.5% ABV but you'll enjoy it so much that you probably won't even notice. Dated 4/15 on the bottom of the can with "SHAKEN NOT STIRRED" written underneath that, the Bond reference was cute but this was so much more than a martini with coffee liqueur. Save the money on a mixed drink with those and reach for this instead and of course, don't forget to smash pour it!
