This was another offering from Source that I picked up recently, at the Bottle King in Livingston. Sold out quick during its initial release, I was surprised to find it locally and grabbed it on the spot. Sure, the label was indeed trippy but this was a decent offering from the spring that was plenty nuanced, plenty strong, and fun to kick back with on a hot summer's night!
A hazy muted goldenrod in appearance, this was topped off with a decent amount of head that evenly and quickly settled down. No lacing whatsoever was left behind as I was a bit disappointed by that. Tons of mango, booze, and juiciness in the nose as the taste was just as strong, wet, and lively. Loads of juice, apricot, deep stone fruit, and a hint of swamp water were in the taste as this was no joke of beer when it came to its heft. This got better as it warmed up as the full body, subtle carbonation, hint of nectar, and underlying fruit sweetness kept this enjoyable in spite of its overt strength.
Even on a warm night, I could easily feel the heat from this as it was nearly enough to make me break out into a minor sweat. A strong, underlying hint of nectar and candied citrus stuck around in the aftertaste as this was quite easy to quaff despite its potency. Canned on 4/8 with "HEROIC DOSE" written underneath it, this was certainly trippy and quite complex for a beer of this style. Take to time to savor this and enjoy it for all it has to offer - once again, Source has another winner with this psychedelic release!
