While not the biggest fan of this style, I had to give this a go when Source released this a few months back. Love a novelty beer (when done right) and this was certainly reminiscent of Nutella as it was plenty sweet, smooth, and deep enough to be more than a one-hit wonder!
No surprise that this poured a dark brown as it was topped off with a ton of mocha head. That was full of bubbles and plenty thick as it settled unevenly. Not much lacing was left behind with most of the suds being scattered along the top of my pint glass, as they didn't form any semblance of rings. Nuts, cocoa powder, peanut butter, and a hint of booze were in the nose as the taste also had some cream and mocha in it. Slick, balanced, and sticky in the back, there was just enough going on here to hold my attention as this wasn't overly sugary or strong, although there was enough body and heft to be had.
The carbonation was sufficient when the smash pour was done, as this was canned on 4/11 of last year with "FUNTFILA" written below that. While not the best offering that I've had from Source, this held up well and was enjoyable as a dessert beer, as it would easily please anyone who's ever eaten Nutella straight out of the package!
