Want a beer worthy of being something out of a high-class era that can easily hold its own?
You've found your match here.
This had a wonderful feel to it as it quite luxurious from the get-go, while also being shockingly weaker in feel than it's massive ABV. Given that Source brewed this, that's not a total surprise.
Neither was the look to this, as it was quite dark in hue with a nice, bubbly head of mocha topping it off. That settled slowly as there wasn't much lacing left behind. Loads of cocoa in the nose with subtle raspberry, espresso, and vanilla in the nose as the taste was silky smooth and softly sticky. Part fruity, part sweet, part rich, and part roasted, there was enough going on here without feeling like anything heavy was going on, as there was an underlying jam consistency to everything.
This felt rich like a truffle without being heavy on the sense. So many offerings like this need a chaser of water but that wasn't the case here, as this was perfectly sufficient as a dessert beer on its own! Canned on 11/25 with something unintelligible written underneath it, this was luxuriously lovely while having me feel like I unwrapped it before it melted in my mouth. Yes, this was perfect for dessert on yet another snowy night this winter!
