A big IPA: high ABV, high bitterness level and lots of hop flavor and aroma from a dry hop with Cascade and El Dorado.

13 oz. pour on draught at the brewery. It's an orange-brown color that resembles iced tea, with a thin, ecru-colored head and a creamy sheen of lacing. Initially, the smell was subdued but it became more fragrant as the glass warmed a little. There is abundant malt, along with lemon, grapefruit, and caramel. The taste opened with a base of caramel malt, along with grapefruit and lemon peel from the Cascade hops. But the malt and fruit are quickly balanced out by the biting bitterness of the El Dorado hops. At the finish there are herbal, spicy notes. This ale has a really good mouth feel. On the one hand it's crisp with lively carbonation. On the other hand its 8.6% ABV gives it nice substance. Overall, Big Fish hit the spot on a warm, late summer's day. It features a great balance of malt, fruit, and bitterness and has the potential to be a really fine DIPA. It's an excellent offering from a new brewery.
