Smooth and full bodied, this creamy stout showcases the flaked oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt that make up the specialty grains in the recipe.

Pint on draught at the brewery. It pours a color between dark cola and mahogany with a thin, ecru-colored head and lacing. The nose is pleasantly fragrant, especially as it warms, and features roasted malt, freshly-brewed coffee, chocolate, vanilla, nuts, leather, and tobacco smoke. The smell of oatmeal appears as the glass warms a little. The taste is very well balanced and nuanced. There is strong, fresh coffee, milk chocolate, and sweet oatmeal, along with burnt nuts and a touch of bitter char particularly at the finish. For the style the fell is creamy with a pleasing level of carbonation. With an ABV of 5.67% it's easily drinkable and not overly filling. Overall, I am impressed. This is a first-rate Oatmeal Stout and a praiseworthy achievement for a newly-opened brewery. Be sure to try AYCE if you visit Somers Point Brewing.
