Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a tulip glass. It has a lovely appearance: a pretty, dark amber color with a half finger creamy, ecru-colored cap and thick, swirling, elegant lacing inside the glass. The smell offers lightly toasted bread, modest caramel, and spice. Its taste includes bready, sweet malt with peppery bitterness. It's more bitter than other California Commons I've tasted. The balance between sweet and bitter is excellent and it has great depth of flavor. It's medium-bodied with a plush, creamy feel and is surprisingly substantive at 5.7% ABV. It's not a crusher. Overall, Jetty Jump is an impressive rendition of this rather obscure style. SOPO shows a deft, sophisticated touch with this ale.
