Bright, crisp and hoppy! This is a very modest "Double IPA" with regard to ABV but the hop profile says otherwise. Generous amounts of Amarillo, Simcoe and Eukanot in both the whirlpool and dry hop give a fantastic tropical fruit flavor and aroma.

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a tulip glass. It pours a hazy, bright honey-orange color with a very creamy, bright white cap and thick, clinging lacing. A pretty pour. The nose offers sweet caramel malt, lemon, grapefruit, and earthy notes. Its taste opens with bitter, earthy caramel and dark bread malts, along with lemon peel, grapefruit rind, and hints of orange from the Amarillo hops and pine from the Simcoe. There are also herbal and tobacco notes from the Ekuanot. It finishes cleanly with significant bitterness. The mouth feel is really nice: creamy yet crisp with appropriate carbonation. The 7.6% ABV gives it good substance without distracting for the taste. Overall, I like Scull Bay a lot! It's a great example of a "southeastern" IPA with balancing caramel malt and hop bitterness. I think it may be the best IPA that SOPO has brewed to date.
