Brewed with a blend of specialty malts that build a deep and complex profile. It spent 6 months in Pine Tavern Distillery's bourbon barrels. Expect rich layers of dark chocolate, dried stone fruit and roasted coffee, all wrapped in warm notes of vanilla, toasted oak and subtle caramel from the barrel.

Poured into snifter. It pours a deep walnut - almost black - with a large, creamy, khaki-colored cap and sheen of lacing. The smell is mostly roasted malt, char, and just a whiff of chocolate. Its taste is bourbon-forward. There is a malty base with notes of chocolate, coffee, leather, and earthy char, but they don't pop. The mouth feel is on the thin side but at 10% ABV it drinks easily. Overall, I appreciate that this is Somers Point's first BA Imperial Stout. Barrel-aging aside this Stout needs more chocolate and coffee from the malts.
