Poured from 500ml bottle into a tulip glass. This is an interesting concept: a Elijah Craig bourbon barrel-aged imperial roggenbier. Let's see how it shakes out. Appearance is a deep, clear cola color, with ruby highlights and a light tan head. Very bourbon-forward on the nose and palate, with big aromas and flavors of vanilla atop slightly sour and spicy notes from the rye. Syrupy mouthfeel, quite sweet, with notes of honey as you might expect from its time in the bourbon barrel. Quite boozy as well. Perhaps some time in the cellar might have taken the edge off. Still, a very good beer overall.
