Enjoyed on tap at the brewery today.
A - Poured a nice dark brown almost black with a thin mocha head that fades to leave thick halo and rich thin blanket.
S - Big aromas of roast and char, nice light sweet and smokey, good esters.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice roast and toasted malts, little sweetness and smoke, esters, finish is lingering bitterness and a little chalky.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, slightly crisp and clean.
O - Overall this was a solid enough saison. It delivers what it promises, I just don't know if I like the merger of style.

Draft at the brewery
Large foamy fizzy tan head, moderate retention, decent lacing, dark mahogany ruby color
Nose sweet caramel toasted malt, lots of toasted grainy malt, reddish malt, biscuity, nice fruity esters and light peppery phenols, hint smokey and chocolate note
Taste toasty smokey malts, little charred with hint of cocoa, fair peppery phenol notes, fruity esters, hinting at but not solventy, grainy malt, little doughy like, medium to lighter bitterness turning straight medium on the finish
Mouth is med bod, fair carb,
Overall it delivers exactly what it should but not sure if the style should exist, just doesn't seem to mesh well
