Sacred Vice Brewing Co. "Compersion"
$5 @ the Amber St. location/16 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating
Notes via stream of consciousness: The body is a very light colored straw gold beneath a short head of bright white foam. It's lightly hazy, and looks like a Belgian-style witbier. The aroma is earthy, grainy, lightly spicy, fruity with apple and pear, softly sweetish, and delicately grassy. It's not a bold aroma but if you look there's a fair amount of complexity there. On to the taste... it follows the aroma to a T. The malt is just mildly sweetish, and grassy and grainy. The yeast lends notes of mineral, earthiness, light spiciness, and orchard fruits. It's quite dry but not particularly bitter. My assumption is that the yeast has fermented it out quite well, which is usually the case. I'll also note that the body is fairly light which backs that up. Interestingly it's not that carbonated. It's got a very fine bubbled carbonation that's standard (@2.56 volumes) or less, which is a little unusual for saisons. There is some bitterness there though, and it lingers. Some acidity helps as well. It's really quite refreshing, and almost compellingly drinkable. Compersion is about deriving joy from seeing another person’s joy, and I think it's an appropriate name for this beer.
