Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: German Pilsner
Glass: Burgeon .5L pilsner glass
Price: $2.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: June 19, 2021
Consumed: July 17, 2021
Misc.: No canned on date
Grabbed a can of this after seeing it in cans for the first time. Gave a taster of it a 4.00 on July 19, 2019 and just wrote outstanding. Online description for this beer was “Simplicity and patience are what makes this beer what it is. Delicate Weyermann Pils malt, with notes of hay and toasted bread crust, and a Czech Saaz, Saphir hop profile that supplies the noble, earthy hop character expected of the style. Brewed in the traditional way, unfined and naturally carbonated. This crushable beer is anything but schlock!”
Poured a medium yellow clear color with 5-to-6 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom and sides of the glass at different speeds. Excellent foamy-to-foggy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled white bread, dough, pepper, Saaz, Noble hop, cracker, dry grass, floral and pilsner malt. Just as good out from the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. Got white bread, doughy yeast, cracker, dry grass, aspirin, black pepper, Saaz, Noble hop, floral and dry pilsner malt. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium-to-light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Long, dry finish. (Feel - 3.75)
An outstanding pilsner overall. So damn dry which I’m not sure if I like it or not. (Overall - 4.00)
