Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. snifter glass
Price: $4.29
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Feb. 12, 2021
Consumed: Feb. 12, 2021
Misc.: No canned on date
Got this and way too many beers on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Have enjoyed the two times I went to Original 40 but admittedly it had been almost 1 ½ years since I’d been there. It is good to see them canning and in stores. Online description called it a “Double dry-hopped IPA with Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, Nelson & Cashmere hops.”
Poured a light golden hazy color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Perfect foamy layered lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled pretty good from the first whiff. The Mosaic really stood out. Also Cashmere, bubblegum, floral, sugary Citra, lemon zest, spicy Simcoe, viney berry, hints of Nelson, lime, pine, papaya and guava. Even juicier out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. In order got dish soap, lemon, lime, pine, grapefruit, tangerine rind, Citra, spicy Simcoe, papaya, black pepper, viney berry, white grape, Nelson, rose blossom, Mosaic, guava, floral and grass. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, spicy finish. (Feel - 3.75)
Smell was great, but the taste wasn’t quite as good. Very good overall. (Overall - 3.75)
