Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Clear 16-oz. Bruges beer glass
Price: $4.29
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Feb. 26, 2021
Consumed: March 12, 2021
Misc.: No canned on date
Got this and way too many beers on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Have enjoyed the two times I went to Original 40 but admittedly it had been almost 1 ½ years since I’d been there. It is good to see them canning and in stores. Their website called it a “Hazy double IPA dry-hopped with Cashmere, Belma and Samba.” Had had Belma (orange, melon, strawberry, pineapple with a hint of grapefruit) and Samba (juicy tropical fruits (pineapple, mango), stone fruits, candy, and orange tangerine) before but no idea of hop profile until I looked them up.
Poured a bright, gold murky color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled orange, tangerine, pineapple, guava, mango, strawberry, melon, peach, stone fruit, grapefruit, lemon and herbal. Not quite as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted a tad better than the smell. In order got orange, tangerine, pineapple, guava, strawberry, mango, melon, peach, apricot, stone fruit, grapefruit and lemon. Looking at hop profile of Belma and Samba (Zamba), more Belma, then Samba and Cashmere in the background. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Damn. Such a good beer. Overrated this overall I think, but at least outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)
