This San Diego classic was first brewed in 2012! Was looking forward to a this one. Bine & Vine description for this one read “This San Diego classic was first brewed in 2012! Poured a chestnut brown color with two fingers of khaki-tan frothy head. Could just a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Good spotty-to-foggy lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled charred beechwood, toasted caramel, roasty malts, black cherry, dark fruit, cacao, hazelnut coffee and bitter dark chocolate. Not as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted even better than the nose. In order got charred beechwood, ashtray, toasted caramel, hazelnut, roasty malt, black cherry, dark fruit, cacao, roasted coffee and bitter dark chocolate. (Taste - 4.50)
Medium body. Creamy-to-sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter, woody finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Damn, this was awesome. Even better than I thought it would be. Will be having some more of this for sure. (Overall - 4.50)
