they had a number of these single varietal pales on under this same name when i was in, and its pretty solid stuff, although arguably the least ambitious and impressive of the beers i had here. its relatively clear, brassy colored, and nice and bubbly with a good head on it and some lace as i drink it down. i like the galaxy in the nose, but its not as dry hop forward as i thought it might be, not as overtly new school, still some malt to this, and still some bitterness when i taste it, which is really not the mix where i think galaxy shines its brightest. the flavor is there, pretty true to the hop, although i do get a light copper metallic thing in the taste along with some sweetness from the grain, which both happen right near the hop climax too, but only moderately distracting. i think they could either step up the dry hop with this, or scale back the grain a touch, its not heavy or anything, but it tastes almost incomplete to me, like the galaxy isnt quite its full self here, perhaps not the best base pale to showcase it, but i could see this beer working better with a bolder, more bitter hop like centennial or a simcoe. not delicate enough for galaxy, at least not in this instance. fine carbonation, medium body, and off dry to finish. i had a little higher hopes for this one, but drinkable and decent overall, just not quite what it could be, given how awesome galaxy can be when it finds its stride.
