Apple Cobbler sounded pretty good tonight.
So I got myself a 16 oz single can from Taylor's. Southern Grist mini Willie Beecher, no date printed on the can.
Appearance looks appropriately like apple juice, halfway transparent, with a fuzzy white head of 1 finger, receding to a thin ring with zero lacing.
Aroma is of kettle soured mash and vinegar. No apples. A passing whiff of cinnamon.
Flavor is watery/empty to start, followed by some tart bacteria, then apple skin and slight cinnamon. More tart bacteria, then a fleeting note of apple juice on the finish. Decent base sour profile; no apple cobbler. It's drinkable but not exciting nor as advertised.
Feel is slick and watery, goes down real easy, which is probably for the best since this beer is short on flavor.
Overall, a smooth and quick little kettle sour that falls short of the apple tree by a few miles. It is another can of overpriced bullshit that I can't 100% hate because it's not terrible but I can't recommend in any fashion as it is another money grab that does not deliver on what it advertises. I hate dissing on local beers but it's so damn easy to do. "APPLE COBBLER!!" - yeah right. We should know better by now. To its merit, this one sucks about as good as any of them.
Do not expect apple cobbler from this, you will not get it.
Price paid : $3.89 / can
Would buy again : nope
