Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a two finger white head with great retention and thick lacing, looks nice. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, mixed orange and tangerine, light mixed tropical fruit; a bit of dankness. Flavor is pale malt, grassy and mildly citrus hops, vague mixed tropical fruit and citrus, some dankness and a little dried grass. Moderate bitterness with light grassiness in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. It was interesting that this smelled a lot like a West Coast IPA, but there is virtually no caramel character to the taste. The overall profile is quite English, much like some of the early domestic IPAs, with Continental tasting hops dominant. The malt is not as deep as a traditional English IPA, more along the lines of a pale ale. The hops have a good alpha oil presence, but muddled herbal flavors. A pleasant IPA on the grassy hop end of the flavor spectrum.
