Sticky Toffee Stout

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a half finger khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, vanilla, light cocoa, coffee and a touch of dry caramel. Flavor is dark toasted malt, vanilla, toffee, light coffee and cocoa. Medium bodied with silky light to moderate creaminess. A nice stout with a milk stout profile, malt is somewhat subdued and more like a porter, although with vanilla giving it a milky character. There is a little toffee here, but it's also rather subdued. Although mellower than expected, the flavor has good stout coffee, cocoa and vanilla flavors; well integrated and pleasant. Needs some more toffee flavor to live up to its name, but as a well rounded milk stout, a pleasing one.
