Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with little light transmission and one finger dark khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of lightly toasted malt, citrus and lightly dank hops, coffee and mixed fruit; classic Cascadian IPA profile. Flavor is dark toasted malt, citrus and lightly piney hops, cocoa, coffee, lemon and grapefruit. Moderately bitter, roasty, citrus rind and piney finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A pleasant, to-style Cascadian dark IPA. The malt base is very nice and an interesting hop bill, leaning to a West Coast citrus and piney profile with a little dankness and mixed fruit thrown in. It seems only moderately bittered into the finish, but the lingering herbal hop flavors show a long lasting, satisfying bitterness. A fine example of a tough to find style.
