Bourbon Barrel Aged Sticky Toffee Stout

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a half finger khaki head that dissipates to a large patch with light lacing.. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, light cocoa and caramel. Flavor is dark toasted malt, vanilla, toffee, a touch of coca and bourbon. Medium bodied with silky light to moderate creaminess. A another nice stout with a milk stout profile, malt is somewhat subdued and more like a porter, although with vanilla giving it a milky character. There is more toffee here than the unbarreled version, but not quite sticky; a bit subdued. Although mellower than expected, the flavor has good bourbon, cocoa and vanilla flavors; well integrated and pleasant. Needs some more toffee flavor to live up to its name, but as a well rounded barreled milk stout, a pleasing one.
