Poured from 16oz can into my 8th Wonder chalice. Canned 11/21/23; less than 4 weeks old!
Appearance: medium golden hue with a relatively clear body and two fingers of frothy ivory foam. Looks good to me.
Smell: rather syrupy sweet malt aroma with an herbal, earthy hop character. It’s a bit too sweet for my taste, honestly.
Taste: flavor is sweet, and although there’s a nice tropically-fruity hop flavor (quite at odds with the aroma, actually), it’s not quite enough to overcome the feeling of too much sweetness for me.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a decent carbonation and a good creaminess. While the sweetness and bigness of the malt may not totally appeal to me on a flavor level, they do a good job giving this beer a nice texture.
Overall: it’s a pretty cromulent DIPA, but the ratio of sweetness to hop goodness is a bit too high for me.
