Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 11/21/23.
Appearance: super dark brown-amber hue that nevertheless lets a little bit of light pass through as a deep ruby highlight through the totally clear body. Head is a finger of frothy medium-tan foam; it looks good to me!
Smell: toasty malt with biscuity, caramelly, and nutty elements. Not quite as much coffee/chocolate/roast as I like in a Czech dark lager; I might have guessed this was a Czech amber lager instead. It’s not bad, but it’s a bit biscuity for my taste.
Taste: flavor is a lot like the aroma, though perhaps a bit sweeter and more caramel-forward. Again, not bad, but more biscuity character than I typically care for in the style.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: not my favorite Czech dark lager out there, but it seems well-made, and if you typically like toastier amber lagers then you might enjoy this beer very much.
