(300 ml bottle, BBD JUN 2022; bought single off shelf at Total Wine... poured into a 14 oz mug)

L: near polished-clear, gold-amber liquid; steady, puffy sponge pad of white foam... the head holds for a surprising time, only to collapse (but lace!) after the first sip

S: apple juice, and blandly at that

T: hint of apple juice awash in a rather naked pale/pils malt soup, with a bold thread of nutty/earthy grain (silo) powder; dry aftertaste with artifacts of the nutty apple lingering; marginally bitter?

F: dry, dull, with an almost vacuum parching effect following the finish... definitely no challenge to the senses

O: I was done after two big sips; had enough... this would have to be teeth-chattering cold (from a can?) for it to be worth another go (1891)

Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V. "Superior Bellita"
330 ml brown glass bottle coded "L1160484CB0007 BBD JUNE 2022"
$1.79 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a clear golden body beneath a short head of white foam. Hundreds of very fine bubbles can be seen streaming upwards within the glass. The aroma is limited to some sweetish and bready malt, some apple and berry-like fruitiness, and a light touch of floral character. It smells like a malt product but not really a beer. On to the taste... well I think it's clear that there's a lot of adjunct in use given the sugary side of the maltiness. The yeasty fruitiness is present as well and it's stronger than you'd expect for a lager. Some herbal hop flavor helps to round it out but there's not a lot there and it comes of a little bit like tea in the sweetish finish. I doubt that there's even 15 IBUs here and yet it doesn't finish overly sweet as it's just 4.6% ABV and there's really not that much 'malt' that needs to be balanced. In the mouth it's light-medium in body and gently crisp. The head dropped right upfront but it did leaves some lacing towards the end - it's thin but it's not bad. Overall it's got some flaws to it: limited head retention, the aroma of an ale, a lack of maltiness due to the use of too much adjunct, and a lack of hops both in flavor and bitterness.
