Sometimes we get to make interesting beer with really good people. In this case, it's Zesty Enterprise, a Saison that we brewed with the Culinary Institute of America. Meyer lemon zest, pink peppercorns and rose hips amplify the already spicy character as this beer washes over your palate. A perfect summer beverage, if we may say so.

I had this on draught at the brewery. Pint pour served in an Industrial Arts pint glass. It pours a cloudy, golden-honey color with a thin, milk-white head and minimal lacing. The nose features lemon peel, clove, coriander, and banana. The taste was unusual: when I first sipped it there was a "burnt" taste but as the glass warmed it disappeared and the taste was primarily citrus, pepper, and some funky Belgian spice. Still, this is pretty hoppy for a Saison. It features a medium body with lively carbonation, and is very easy to drink with an ABV of 5.7% Overall, this is a refreshing and easy-drinking Saison but it's missing the fruitiness I expected and the burnt flavor at first is a little off-putting.

Tall can... 7/17/17
Pours hazed, looser cap and leaving some slippery lacing
Hints of pepper and coriander on the nose.
Smooth and tasty with again the saison staple flavors of pepper and saison, pleasingly smooth in the mouth...well done and quite enjoyable, but not ranking with the heavy weights of the style

Canned 7/17/17
Pours a clear orangey-gold, similar to most hard ciders. VERY quickly-dissipating head. I THINK it was white, but can't swear to it. ;) (Hence the slight deduction for appearance.)
Smells of pepper, a vaguely clove-like estery aroma, and a mild, citrus fruity aroma, that tweaks the upper part of the nostril, with a little sharpness.
Taste is pretty similar to aroma, with the addition of something a little fruity, (apple+peach+strawberry+very ripe red raspberry) and a little sweet, that rounds off the sharpness of the (Meyer)lemon zest. Assuming that this is the rose hips.(Apples, pears, raspberries, strawberries, quince, & stone fruits are in the Rosaceae, btw.)
Has a smooth, lightly oily feel, with pleasant, mildy-prickly carbonation, on the tip of the tongue, and the back of the throat, on the finish. A light, drying bitterness lingers on the tip of the tongue.
I like it, but don't love it, because of the clove, though I might like it better in hot weather. It did get better as it warmed. If you like clove (I like it in VERY small doses.) , you can probably add .25 to the taste, smell, & overall, ratings. As this is just six days old, I'll stagger drinking the rest, in hopes that it will mellow, and blend. All-in-all, good, & worth a try.
