A serious winter warmer. We used 4 different wheat malts, roasted oats, dark Belgian candi sugar and a heavy dose of cryo Simcoe for this velvety, chocolatey stout before finishing it it one of our American oak foedres.

Great pour, as good as I've seen. Deep brown/black, great big head that fizzled out pretty quickly, but a lot of carbonation.

No real noticeable smell.

Taste is very ordinary. Thin and not much going on.

Drinks nicely, but like a typical inexpensive beer.

Very unimpressive.

On the sweeter side but not cloyingly so.
It's different, not bad.
Got a raisin licorice smell.
It was fun to try, not something I would seek out.

Pours a very dark chestnut brown color, looking nearly black in the glass. A small creamy tan head quickly dissipates but yields a ring of lacing.
As expected, the nose reveals notes of dark roasted malts, wheat, nutty, chocolatey and with notes of dark fruit. Aromas of Candi sugar and fruity hops add an interesting twist.
Sweet but well balanced with notes of creamy oats, chocolate fudge, Candi sugar, bittersweet dark chocolate and roasty notes of espresso. Flavors of dark fruit, raisins, plums and cherry, as well as fruity and floral hops with a touch of citrus.
Full bodied with a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. The finish is smooth with some dryness. The carbonation is moderate to gentle.
A well balanced imperial stout with interesting and complex flavors. I would have again.

Poured from a 16oz can dated 1/29/21 at room temp to a diagonally cut tumbler.
The body appearance is black with brown on the perifferies. A 1/2 inch multi-sized bubble, tan head fades to nothing within a minute.
Aroma is a mild mix of chocalate and raisin with a hint of the volatiles.
The raisin effect dominates the taste with bitter chocolate taking a back seat. Although most of the experience is quite sweet, the finish is dry and chaulky.
Mouth feel seems thin, but tongue coating happens. Sounds contradictory but I'm sticking with it.
Overall, meh.

Pours a deep brown almost black color with a short tan colored head that fades quickly and laces the glass a little on the way down. Smells of sweet wheat and deep roasted malts, hints of coffee, chocolate, and a hint of peanut butter. Tastes of sweet wheat malts and deep roasted malts and small hint of chocolate. Feels heavier than it looks, smooth, could use a tad more carbonation but overall great take on this!

Wonder if this would have been better fresh because of the heavy dose of cryo Simcoe? It's pretty good right now, but not on par with the state of the art barleywine.

Some roasty cocoa, faint coffee, brown sugar, and milk chocolate. Mouthfeel is a bit light and watery, probably since the carbonation was short-lived. The flavor is a bit subdued, but this is pretty satisfying overall.

first State of the Art. 6th review of Industrial Arts. So far so good.
a) massive head and lace like milkshake over brownish black body.
s) Coffee, malt, woodshop, some shellac.
t) Follows smell, but very sweet and chocolaty.
f) a big, but a bit too sugary feel.
o) If you love sweet Stouts like a Carton Sundae this is a good taste mate.

Served in a Teku glass from the can.

Appearance: Semi thin brown to black color which comes off a bit transparent with a tan head rising maybe one fingers length off the body. Tan head a littler bit on the closer side to white rising exactly one finger's length off the body.

Smell: Chocolate infused coffee but heavier malts to the nose.

Taste: Semi sweet but extra bitter light coffee with another dose of heavy malt. Not trying to be mean or one sided but it somewhat feels like a black IPA.

Mouth: Bready toasted malt with hints of light roasted coffee on the finish. Soft carbonation which is great and how sticky the after-taste is lovable.

Overall: This is your IPA meets American stout beer. Not going to knock it but take it with a grain of salt don't expect your usually imperial stout with this one. Salud!

Reddish brown body with a nice tan head. Lovely aroma: caramel, brown sugar, coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol & roasted malts. Slightly sweet with a touch of bitter. Flavor is all that is implied by its aroma with the exception that the alcohol is well hidden. The flavor is very complex with lots of malty goodness. Very smooth with the perfect amount of carbonation. An adult version of a coffee& chocolate flavored wheaties.

From a growler, filled a few days ago.

Pours quite dark and stout like...leaving ample good looking and fine bubble sheeting, also some fine strands of lacing.

Milk chocolate and cafe au ait on the sniff.

Loaded with tasty chocolate notes, accompanied by underlying but mellow and soft coffee highlights. Delicious stuff...complex with great depth of flavors carrying onto the long finish.

Soft and well rounded in the mouth....great stuff all around....go get some

Poured into a stemless wine glass.

L: 4 Thick, murky black body with a slight tinge of brown. Thin head that dissipates. Carbonation evident.
S: 4. Dry. Bitter chocolate, coffee. Bready.
T: 4.5. Super chocolatey. Sugary sweetness. Malt heavy. Oats come more into play when warmed. The simcoe is not as strong as expected, but perhaps that is better for this style.
F: 4. Very pleasant. Medium to thick bodied. Light carbonation. No alcohol burn.
O: 4. Fantastic stout. Worth seeking out. I figured this would be more like the Double Dry Hopped Wheat Stout they brewed last year, with heavy fruity notes like their IPAs, but no, this is very faithful to the style.
