On tap at Thompson Island Brewery, Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Pours a dark amber/caramel color. The appearance is cloudy to murky with a moderate frothy head that dissipates into a layer of film.
The nose is sweet with notes of biscuity band caramel malt. Fruity aromas with notes of peach and citrus fruit. The aromas of rye develop later.
Nicely balanced with flavors of toasted malts, rye spices and a touch of piney and peppery hops bitterness. The taste is less sweet than the aroma, however, there are subtle notes of caramel, jammy dark fruit and a bright citrusy twang. The rye flavors offer an increasing slickness and stand out without overshadowing the other flavors.
Medium bodied and smooth with a moderate carbonation. The finish is spicy and dry.
Overall, a pleasant and easy drinking Amber/Rye Ale that provides a nice spicy kick, yet, is finely balanced.
