Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 5/07/21. Pours a very near pitch black with a 3 plus finger sticky brown head that leaves thick streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.5

Aroma is basically an almond joy, with some vanilla and a whiff of coffee. Simple and excellent. 4.25

Taste follows cocoa, coconut, vanilla, toffee, and again a little hit of faint coffee. 4.5

Mouthfeel is bigger than medium, not sticky or dry, soft carbonation, and at 9.6% it really goes down easy. 4.25

Overall this is a really nice flavored imperial stout that is far from complex, but really tasty. Thanks jzeilinger for this can.

Had on draught at Thompson Island and bought cans to go.

A - Pitch black pour with an initial thick two fingered deep head that's toffee colored and sticks to the sides of the glass like glue.

S - Chocolate, roasted cocoa, and light char with some almond cream and a little bit of booziness on the nose.

T - Roasty chocolate and cocoa, almond, almond cream, delicate coconut, and light alcohol presence. There's a very, very slight underlying astringency

M - Thick, viscous silky texture and sticky on the lips. Light warming in the back of the throat on the way down the pie hole.

O - Not a stand out but who cares? It's solid.

On draught at Thompson Island, Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Pours a pitch black color with a minimalist and rapidly dissipating head. A thin ring of lacing remains.

The nose is sweet with notes of biscuity malts, milk chocolate, cocoa and caramel. Aromas of cocoa, almonds. and milk sugar, accompanied by moderately nutty and roasted malts, and minty grass.

The taste is sweet with a robust malts and creamy and rich milk sugar. Doughy and biscuity malts pair with notes of milk chocolate, dark caramel, cocoa nibs, coconut and almonds. Gentle notes of dark toasted malts and a minimal espresso like roastiness add some contrast. Similarly, a modest bitterness, notes of peppermint and grassy hops flavors add some balance.

Full bodied and rich. Smooth and mouth coating with a creamy finish. The carbonation is moderate to gentle.

Admittedly I’m not a big fan of lactose nor pastry stouts. However, this one is drinkable enough and pairs well with dessert.
